Zanir, who won a Juvenile hurdle at Kempton last season and ran very respectably at the Cheltenham Festival, will be having a run on the flat shortly in preperation for his re-appearance over hurdles.
Tom George was born in 1967 and lives in his childhood home with his lovely wife Sophie (daughter of former leading national hunt trainer John Edwards), Noel and Archie.
Having left Gordonstoun school in 1984 it was the obvious progression to venture into the bloodstock world. To gain a complete
knowledge of the industry, Tom decided to give himself a thorough grounding by working in all areas. Initially he worked for the
leading Irish National Hunt trainer, Arthur Moore, followed by a spell at the privately owned Kingwood Stud.
The next 8 years were spent in Newmarket, firstly working for The British Bloodstock Agency and gaining a diploma in Stud Management
at The National Stud. The following 5 years were spent as assistant trainer to Gavin Pritchard-Gordon and then Michael Jarvis.
To broaden Tom's experience he decided to spend a year working in France for Francois Doumen, and finally a year working for champion
National Hunt Trainer, Martin Pipe.
Tom George starting his training in 1993 with a collection of 6 horses. He soon sent out his first winner, Newton Point at Worcester on 11th September 1993. The number of winners Tom has trained has slowly risen with the highlight of training 50 winners in 2003 / 2004 season. Tom has trained many notable big race winners from inexpensive purchases.
Poland has been a provider of many race winners over the years. From 17 horses purchased in Poland, 14 have gone on to be winners,
winning a staggering 37 races between them netting £322,616. These include Galileo ( pictured to the right of the page ), who won the
Sun Alliance Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham Festival.
Tom George is sponsored by leading recruitment agency Blue Arrow, which covers the criteria for owners being able to reclaim any VAT expenditure.
Tom is backed up by an enthusiastic team. Tom's Head Lass, Sally "Mini" Hall, joined him in August this year (2007) from Ferdy Murphy's yard.
