Longcroft Building Services Ltd

He is in fantastic condition so hopefully will return to his winning form soon!

Ciaran McKee
Ciaran McKee joined the team before Christmas as conditional jockey. He claims a valuable 10 pound when riding for the yard. He has had a couple of rides so far and we are very pleased with how he is settling in. Hopefully soon we will be able to get him some winners.

Nacarat
Nacarat will not run before the Racing Post Chase.
Weekend Runners
We have no runners this weekend. They are not 100% ready yet due to the freeze up. Hopefully we will be busier towards the end of next week.
Charles Owen Pony Racing Series
G Whizz is on schedule to give Noel his first ride pony racing in February. It looks highly likely that the pony will be better prepared for the debut than the jockey!
Sam & Paddy
We have had a very busy morning Sam Thomas and Paddy Brennan have both been in to ride out.
More Snow

We had a further 4 inches of snow on Wednesday morning which caused some disruption however we have managed to keep every one of the horses cantering.

Hopefully we have seen the last of the snow!

Tell Massini

Contrary to the Racing Post yesterday that suggested Tell Massini would have a prep race in 2 weeks time. This is untrue; we are building up his work to aim for either of his engagements at the Cheltenham Festival.

His owner Richard Cornock has been to Down Farm earlier this morning to watch him exercise.

Nacarat

Nacarat has a provisional entry for The Leopardstown Handicap Chase on Saturday.

No decision will be made on wether he runs or not until he has done some fast work on Wednesday.

Gallop

The gallops are all back in working order.

The horses will be doing routine canters for the first part of the week, gradually leading to faster work on Wednesday when Sam and Paddy are in.

Juvenile Hurdlers

Next seasons juvenile hurdlers are wintering well and have grown nicely since the Summer.

They are by Sagacity, Lando, Diableneyev, Celtic Swing and Grape Tree Road.

Tartak

Tartak has two early entries for Cheltenham Festival.

He is entered in the Queen Mother Champion Chase & The Ryanair Steeple Chase.

Snow
The thaw is currently underway however we still need conditions to improve enormously.
Woodchip Gallop

We have recently installed new drainage to the woodchip gallop.

Hopefully when the snow thaws we will see the benefits of all the hard work.

Heavy Snowfall

We had 5 inches of snow overnight! Everybody apart from for a couple managed to get to work this morning.

The horses are having an additional day of walking and trotting and are feeling very well.

Nacarat

Nacarat has come out of The King George very well and is currently away having his regular couple of weeks swimming.

Subsequently his next target will more than likely be The Racing Post Chase however, we will be keeping our eyes out for anything else.

Tell Massini

Tell Massini has had a well earned break after his success at Cheltenham in December.

We have now resumed his training programme and will be prepared for The Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle Race at Cheltenham Festival - Ground permitting.

Horse Update

We have given all of the horses a break for the previous week.

They have been walking and trotting for the past couple of days and weather conditions permitting we should be able to start cantering again on Wednesday.

Boxing Day
Nacarat and Tartak have both been declared for the King George. Sam Thomas rides Nacarat and Denis O'Regan rides Tartak.

River Ripples and Quick Fix both go to Huntingdon and Candle runs at Wincanton with our new conditional Ciaran McKee riding.

May we take this opportunity to wish all our owners and supporters a very Happy Christmas and New Year.
King George
We have confirmed both Nacarat and Tartak today for the King George.  Both horses are well and on target for Boxing Day.
Gritting this Morning
We had a bit more snow last night and are still very iced up this morning so gritting has been in progress here in order to make sure the horses' preparation for the Christmas period is not disrupted.
Ffos Las
We have two runners at Ffos Las today:  Cesium and Bold Exit, both ridden by Sam Thomas. Hopefully it won't have been abandoned when we arrive!
This Weekend
Due to Ascot being abandoned we just have Regal Heights running at Haydock in the 2.20 Tommy Whittle Handicap Chase which will be shown on Channel 4 Racing. Sam Thomas rides.
Runners at Ascot Friday
We're running four at Ascot tomorrow. The Darling Boy, Blossom King and Soulard will all be ridden by Sam Thomas, and Ajzal will be ridden by Felix de Giles.

Sam will be riding Mewstone in the Mares' Novice Chase at Exeter tomorrow.
Runners for Wednesday
Tank Top runs tomorrow at Newbury in the 2.35 Handicap Chase with Sam Thomas riding.  Sam will also be riding work here in the morning.
Nacarat
Nacarat had a racecourse gallop at Huntingdon last Thursday.  He worked really well and thoroughly enjoyed himself.
Successful Weekend
We had a great time this weekend with four winners: Je Ne Sais Plus did the business on Friday, having her first run since May.  We were thrilled with both Olofi and Tell Massini who provided us with convincing wins at Cheltenham. King Stanley finished the weekend nicely, winning by a neck at Hereford, and also having his first run since his summer break.  All of them have come out of their races well.
Week end Runners
We have two runners at Cheltenham tomorrow: Olofi and Tell Massini, both of whom will be ridden by Paddy Brennan.  Doncaster runners are Trucker's Hall and Kilcrea Asla, who will both be ridden by Denis O'Regan, and Zanir with Giles Hawkins (7).

On Sunday we're running Rappel D'Estruval and King Stanley at Hereford. Paddy will be riding both.
Friday's Runners
We have four runners tomorrow at Doncaster, all ridden by Sam Thomas:  Beat The Devil, Secret Tune, Couer De Fou and Je Ne Sais Plus.
Power Cut
We will have no electricity tomorrow (Friday) so please bear with us if you are trying to get in touch. We will have a landline phone working but emails may not all get responded to once the laptop battery runs out!
Nacarat
Nacarat has come out of his hurdle run well.  The race served its purpose to bring him on, however he did make it clear, as he has before, that he's not going to make a long ditance hurdler!  His target remains the King George.
Tartak
Tartak had a racecourse gallop at Newbury on Sunday and remains on target for the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon on 10 December.
Newbury
Be Definite makes his debut for the yard tomorrow at Newbury in the Novice Handicap Chase under the new ownership of Simon Clarke, who will also be there to see Nacarat run in the Long Distance Hurdle.
Friday's Runners
We have two runners at Newbury tomorrow:  Beat the Devil in the Juvenile Novice Hurdle and Ajzal in the Novice Handicap Chase.
Schooling Morning
We've had a busy morning schooling with Sam and Paddy both here doing their usual good job.

Rappel D'estruval makes his debut over hurdles tomorrow at Taunton. He was place in his first Bumper at Chepstow in April and should do well over hurdles.
Nacarat
Nacarat is on target for the long distance hurdle at Newbury on Saturday. He schooled well this morning and thoroughly enjoyed himself.
Ascot
We have two runners at Ascot tomorrow - Soulard in the Handicap Chase and Secret Tune in the Handicap Hurdle.
Nacarat
Nacarat is  back from the Spa and in full work.  He will reappear in the long distance hurdle at Newbury on Hennessy day, as there are no suitable chases for him which would give him long enough between races before the King George.
Shake The Barley
Shake The Barley is fine after his third at Folkestone yesterday.  He held every chance at the last, but just weakened on the run in.  We're sure we will win a good race with him before too long.
Nacarat
Nacarat will not be running in the Betfair Chase at Haydock on Saturday.  His major objective for the season is the King George, and we feel he may have a guelling race on heavy ground at the wrong stage of the season.
Zanir
Zanir was a good winner of the Weatherbys Printing Handicap Hurdle at Leicester yesterday.  It was good to see him back in the winner's enclosure after his injury last November.
Week End Winners
We had a good weekend with Candle winning the Mares' Novice Hurdle for the Thoroughbred Ladies at Wetherby on Saturday.

Tell Massini was also a convincing winner of the Grade 2 Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham on Sunday.  Both horses have come out of their races well
Olofi
Olofi did well to finish third in the Grade 2 Juvenile Novices' Hurdle even though the ground was not to his liking.
Tartak
Tartak had a really good schooling session this morning.  We've confirmed him for the Paddy Power on Saturday and we'll make a decision later in the week as to whether he'll be taking up his engagement.
Othermix
Othermix has recently started cantering.  He's summered well and hopefully he can fulfil for us this season the promise he previously showed in France.
Runners at Fontwell
We have two runners at Fontwell tomorrow:  Mewstone makes her debut over fences and Laneguy, who is owned by Laura Day of our stable sponsors Longcroft, runs in the bumper.
Beyond Redemption
Beyond Redemption was running a good race at Chepstow yesterday, holding every chance going into the straight.  Tragically he lost momentum and suffered a fatal heart attack.  Our condolences go to Simon Clarke and his family who are great supporters of our yard.
Schooling
It's been a busy morning again schooling many of our horses.  Sam Thomas and Paddy Brennan were both in and were pleased with the work which was done.
The only slight surprise today was Paddy Brennan hasn't ridden as many winners as normal this season as he had to borrow £5 from me to pay for the Toll Bridge to get to Chepstow!
Nacarat
Nacarat has come out of his race well.  He ran a similar race at Exeter on his reappearance last season and will be following the same programme, starting with ten days swimming and spa treatement on Thursday.  His next engagement is the Betfair Chase at Haydock on 21 November, followed by the King George.
Schooling
We had a busy morning yesterday.  Sam Thomas came in and we schooled twenty horses, including Tartak who jumped exceptionally well and is on target for the Paddy Power Gold Cup..
Tell Massini Win
Tell Massini was an impressive winner on his first start, giving Richard and Michelle Cornock a great start to their new ownership.  He's an exciting prospect and we look forward to more successes with him in the future.
Tartak
Tartak is fine after his run on Saturday.  Unfortunately his jumping let him down so we will be doing plenty of work in this area before his next engagement.
Nacarat
Following an inspection of the ground and a further discussion with Simon Clarke, Nacarat will be going to Exeter for the Haldon Gold Cup.
Wood Chip Gallop
We've recently been topping up the surface on the wood chip gallop.  The work is now completed and we're looking forward to the rain which is forecast over the next couple of days to help bed it in.

We're being plagued by horse flies like never before. They're nearly the size of a ten pence piece and are attacking us riding out as well as the horses!
